WELCOME TO SVAJONE!
IC UPDATES

Season: Autumn.

Weather: Autumn brings no release from the harsh drought of the summer. The nights are cold and whilst rain is predicted, it won't be enough to get the Creek and all other water sources up and running again. Looks like it's back to Melusine for your water, folks, or if you're not that desperate, you can drink from puddles. The leaves have started to fall and the temperatures are cooling down, but hot days reminiscent of summer aren't completely out of the picture yet. Keep a keen eye on the horizon; autumn is known for having unfathomable weather patterns.

Mating: Yes.
Birthing: No.
UPDATES

September 12th, 2007: If you are a Kol or have a Kol character and haven't replied to this topic YOU GONNA GET SMITED! ):< If you are a trippy Southern Tundes and you have not replied to this topic WE WILL SIC ANKH ON YOU! ):< If you are in the East and have not replied to this topic MALLY WILL EAT YOUR CHILDRENS! ):< If you are in the West, you can sleep easy in your beds XD

Due to popular demand any many dropped hints, we now have a Character Happy Place in which your characters may be happy. It's a sub-board in the ever-expanding Socialising area, go go take a look and utilise it! We'd also like your opinions on Site-Wide 9/11 and Bombings Rememberance, which I will take on board IF and only if the majority of members would like it to happy. I'm a bit iffy about the whole subject, honestly.

Some people have asked what happened to the birthday celebrations. Aside from the fact that I had to leave halfway through the week, we only recieved a total of four entries to the pub quiz, which really made us feel unappriciated and very unmotivated. We couldn't even choose a winner from those, because two people got the same amount of correct answers! So a combination of an AWOL Kin and a lack of motivation meant that birthday things went down the pan. Oh well-- maybe we'll make it better next year!

Commemorative NiftyThings, which I know people were interested in, are on hold for even longer cause.. well, I can't explain because I can't give anything away :3 But sometime in the far away future I hope to FINALLY be able to mail you guys some NiftyThings, even if I only manage it in time for our next birthday XD I'm sure you all don't mind.

Also Kitty made us a very much needed topic about The Animals Of Svajone which is very much worth your viewing! Many people forget that the island is off the coast of England and so is quite unlike most other wolf RPG's, which tend to be set in places like Northern America. And I think that's all there is to be said for this update!

Love,
Kinny!

[ ]Elysia Cove
Located near the Western side of Svajone, the Cove gets its name from its rather secluded location, hidden amongst the cliff-faces of the coast. It's a popular spot amongst wolves; many creatures choosing to come here to relax or frolic in the warm, salty rock pools that can be found near Elysia's entrance.

[ ]Kirri Track
After Neoma Pass ends, and before the boundaries of Istas Village, is a wide open space of soft gound, perfect for happy frolic time. Not really much of a track at all, the place is pretty safe as long as one stays closer to the south-westerly areas, as in one part the ground does draw quite close to borders of the Kol forests. There's no places to hide here, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem, as the land does not belong to anybody in particular.

[ ]Fionn Dell
Located near the Eastern part of Svajone, the Dell is made up of a scattered trees that often clump together to form small woodlands or loosely-located forests. The biggest section of woodland is generally known as Fionn--and is often a place where loners come to breed, give birth or have some time to themselves.

[ ]Nova Creek
Widely regarded as a small stream that feeds into Melusine Lake, Nova Creek runs through most of Svajone, yet no-one bothers to say that they "own" it because it would cause too much of a fuss. Rich foliage surrounds the brook and the place has many abandoned dens, serving as a perfect place for nomads to sleep and relax, should they wish to at all.
The Creek is most likely completely dried out now, due to the soaring summer temperatures. This, of course, is excellent news for the Kols, as it means any in search of water are now forced to go to the Melusine Lake.

North
[ ]Magellan Brook
Set amidst the thick cut pines of the Nothern forests, the brook rides a four mile line, meaning its unforested tip reaches to the Eastern territories like a lure. Creatures of the Kol are often set guard here, as it has been seen in the past that humans frequent the Eastern end of the brook; and even through the 'human drought', the Kol believe that soon they will return to this favoured spot. None are sure why the brook is named 'Magellan Brook', and it's come to rest that it must simply have been a wolf hoping for fame by naming something after himself (which must mean he didn't do a very good job of it).

[ ]Keres Oak
Though the pine tree is native to the North, somewhere near the Western boarders of the territory, this single oak stands out of the crowd. Keres simply means 'evil spirits' - and the wolves of Kol believe that it is this tree to which they must come for guidance from some 'higher being'. This aspect of the Kol religion, however, can split the ranks, some believing in this higher being and others denying that anything could be greater than the Kol themselves. Of course, the truth about this tree is much simpler - a long time ago, humans had been hung from the boughs as punishment for dastardly crimes. Naturally the irregular 'sacrifices' interested the wolves and as they slowed, some began to spread the idea that offerings found here were from spirits who were proud of what the Kol had done. The lack of offerings found here today is something that the Tünde like to joke about, in order to annoy the Kol - "The Keres are unhappy with your work, Kol!"

[ ]Climb Of Asura
Translated exactly to 'Climb Of Demons'. It had a different name, back when all the wolves believed the same ideas, but was renamed by the Kol to suit their new 'formations'. It is nothing but a grainy and downtrodden path that leads to the highest point of the Northern Mount, a three day walk or perhaps a two day run. It begins within the forestry and is later forced into the colder open as the path leads higher. For many, it is a test of wits, and if the Kol do not trust a newcomer, they will send them through the Climb Of Asura to check their loyalty. Those who arrive back and hour or so later are chased out or killed, for the Kol know how long it takes to complete the Climb.

[ ]Remiel
Remiel is the most sacred place, possibly in all of Svajone, and is respected even by some of the Tünde. It lies at the end of the Climb, and is a flat section of cliff jutting out from the mountain itself. At the edge of this jut, the altar stands, where any and all sacifices are made to 'the mercy of Kol' (which is what the word 'Remiel' means). The altar is, at most, an organised jumble of rocks, erected by the humans many centuries ago, but the wolves soon learnt of its importance and now treat with the same respect that the humans did - even if now, they must find the sacrifices themselves. The space around it is aplenty, enough room for the entire Kol ranks to sit attentively whilst sacrifices are received, but only the highest in ranks may extend along the jut and reach the altar itself.

[ ]Sorin Coast - 1 Viewing
To the West is the Sorin Coast - the very stretch of coastline that Søren landed on ten years ago. The beach runs up the West side of Svajone, almost entering the North, but not quite. It’s quite a landmark on the island, with the Kols wanting to own it and the Tünde that inhabit the West being intent on not letting it slip out of their ownership. You could say that it’s a war waiting to happen, but fortunately, that isn’t so - what with everyone’s minds focused on the legend of the human bones.

[ ]Barak Rocks
Starting as small stepping-stones found about a quarter-of-a-mile into the sea, the rocks grow larger and bigger, until - roughly half a mile into the sea - they become a fully-fledged group of rocks that are particularly dangerous when the weather is raining or stormy. It can be fatal if one falls from the rocks and into the sea, especially if the tide is in. During days with nicer weather when the tide is out, some of the members of the Tünde pack that resides in the West can be seen sitting on the rocks and lazing about.

[ ]Eurus Beach
Part of Sorin Coast, the beach runs for the same amount of distance that the coast does. The sands are usually yellow-gold when the sun hits them, yet murky grey when it storms, and they provide no shelter from the storms and such. Only popular when it’s sunny or when one needs to think, they’re dangerous when the tide is coming in. The beach is nice to sleep on when the weather is good, since the sand absorbs the sun’s heat and enables the wolves to feel warm and toasty.

[ ]Istas Village
One of the last remaining pieces of evidence of human existence on the island, Istas Village has slowly crumbled into decay during the time that the humans have been non-existent on Svajone. Most of the roofs have fallen in on themselves and doors have since rotted away into nothing but a piece of wood here and there. Although the village doesn’t have many visitors - per se - the Tünde wolves that live in the West happen to use the houses as shelter and places for meetings as well as mating and giving birth.

[ ]Plain Of Tu
The Plain Of Tu simply means 'the Plain of Earth and Soil', and pretty much described the land in one. The Plain reaches as far Southernly as is possible to go on the island and is nothing but tough ground, with a few acres of soft soil here and there, possibly once used for farming by the two-leggeds. It is in this area in which the wolves have had many fights within themselves, and where many exiled wolves are forced to roam (much to the annoyance of those to whom the land belongs to).

[ ]Melusine Lake
The largest expanse of water on the isle lies near the center of the landscape, but is tilted southernly and so comes within that territory. The lake isn't essentially large, but is big enough to be rather noticeable from a distance. More than anything, it is it's depth that interests the wolves - none have ever seen or touched the bottom of it, and those who tried ran out of air before achieving their aim. Melusine is a high patrol area, as it is believed that the Kol will try to reach the bottom of it in search for the bones of drowned humans.

[ ]Amara Mists
Or, 'unfading mists', as it is often known. Cloaked in drapes of grey, it is difficult to see very far into this more eastern part of the Southern territories and so it is a regular meeting place. Behind the mist, the ground is less harsh to the step and some of the few signs of foliage can be found in the way of evergreen trees, a startling contrast to the rest of the more barren Southern lands.

[ ]Guifi Point
Guifi Point lies at the very end of the Plain and is as far away from the Kol as it is possible to be. It is for this reason that many reside here, breathing the fresh sea air that travels from the West and enjoying the plentiful oxygen from the pines of the East. Now that the altar of Remiel has been lost to the Kol, it is Guifi Point that lies sacred to the Tündes, simply because the enemy could never be further away.

[ ]Cesya Mountains
The common name for the huge set of snow-peaked mountains that loom to the east of Svajone, they’re rather like a legend amongst both the Kols and the Tündes. Said to be where Osirus died and then where his daughter Hecate died, it brings up mixed emotions in the Tündes - ones of awe and ones of slight apprehension, since Osirus was a believer in the Álmos Ritual. Pine trees are common throughout the mountains, although there aren’t as many as there are in the North - and according to legends, there’s a hidden path that hasn’t been used since ancient times.

[ ]Neoma Pass
This is perhaps one of the oldest passes in the mountains. Located near the end of the range, it’s a rocky pass that is somewhat protected from the elements by a broken-off ledge some way up on the left mountain wall. The pass slopes down as it leads to the other side of the mountains and comes out in the Northern territory near the Western border. It is not advisable to journey through the pass during the day, since when you reach the other side, Kols can spot you from a distance. However, it is the last ‘safe’ way to reach the West without having to journey through the Northern forests.

[ ]Janus Clearing
Heavily guarded by pine trees, Janus Clearing is nestled half-way up the mountains, with many paths leading towards it but never to it. It’s a rather tricky spot to get to and one would only desire to get there when there’s a particularly important meeting in place that shouldn’t be overheard. Otherwise, the clearing is used for mating and birthing purposes - a rather odd mixture of roles for it to take on, but important roles nonetheless.

[ ]Vanir Slopes
The slopes that lead up into the mountains can often be seen with one or two Deltas patrolling them and the borders that link the East to the South and the North. Of course, it’s only the Northern border that they’re really concerned about, which can be seen in the way they monitor the aforementioned border more than the other ones that join onto their territory. Although the mountains are well-protected, it’s common knowledge that the threat of Malaysia won’t disappear any time soon and that the Kol are getting restless - thus an attack could happen at any time.
